Employee Efforts Recognized and New Hires Welcomed at Inyo County Board Meeting

Inyo County Risk Manager Aaron Holmberg presented the annual Safety Awards for “Most Improved in Safety” at the recent Board meeting. The Wellness Center and the Agricultural Commissioner’s Office were recognized for their efforts in improving employee and facility site safety. Holmberg and Inyo County Safety Coordinator Tehauna Tiffany handed out the awards to the deserving recipients, who expressed gratitude for the teamwork involved in achieving this recognition.

Department heads introduced several new employees to the County family, each receiving a golden trout pin from Vice Chairperson Scott Marcellin. Among the new hires were Assistant Chief Information Officer Abhilash Itharaju, Probation Rehabilitation Specialists Lora Terrasas and Jesus Garcia Martinez, and several individuals from the Health & Human Services department.

Inyo County Planning Director Cathreen Richards presented a General Plan Annual Progress Report to the Board of Supervisors, highlighting the County’s progress in implementing its General Plan. The report showcased positive trends, including an increase in building permits for new housing units compared to the previous years.

With a focus on Southeast Inyo, the Board reminded the community of upcoming meetings in different locations. The Board will be holding meetings in Shoshone, Tecopa, and Furnace Creek, addressing important agenda items such as the “State of the Schools” report and opportunities for improved collaborative service delivery in the region.

The County continues to prioritize safety, growth, and community involvement in its decision-making processes, as demonstrated by the recent recognitions and introductions at the Board meeting. The dedication and efforts of employees and officials alike are essential in driving positive change and progress within Inyo County.
