Members of the Board of Supervisors will travel to Southeast Inyo County next week to hold a special meeting in Tecopa. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the Tecopa Community Center located at 400 Tecopa Hot Springs Rd.

This meeting gives the supervisors an opportunity to engage directly with residents from the county’s remote areas. The agenda includes reports from department heads and updates from officials with Death Valley National Park, the Southern Inyo Fire Protection District, and representatives from the Amargosa Conservancy and Friends of the Amargosa Basin.

Additionally, the County plans to provide details about Assembly Bill 470. This bill would permit a Carrier of Last Resort (COLR) provider, like AT&T, to relinquish essential responsibilities, potentially leaving regions such as Death Valley without reliable and affordable telephone service. The Board has expressed formal opposition to the bill.

To accommodate those unable to attend in person, the meeting will also be accessible via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/868254781. Those wishing to join by telephone can use the following numbers: (669) 900-6833; (346) 248-7799; (253) 215-8782; (929) 205-6099; (301) 715-8592; (312) 626-6799 with Webinar ID: 868 254 781.
