Local agencies in the Eastern Sierra are organizing a procurement workshop for building contractors. The event aims to connect local construction businesses with upcoming work opportunities, including public works construction and renovation projects.

The workshop is scheduled for July 23, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Eastern Sierra Business Resource Center (BRC) located at 269 N. Main St., Bishop. It is open to all contractors, subcontractors, specialty trade professionals, suppliers, and vendors involved in construction projects in the Owens Valley. An optional meet-and-greet with local agencies will begin at 3 p.m., and dinner will be provided at no cost.

“The goal of this event is to help construction businesses successfully bid on local government projects – ensuring that local tax dollars are spent locally and stay in the Eastern Sierra.” Agencies participating include Caltrans, the County of Inyo, Bishop Unified School District, Owens Valley Unified School District, and Lone Pine Unified School District.

The workshop agenda will cover agency requirements for contractors, such as minimum bonding requirements; an overview of upcoming projects available for bidding; tips for successful bidding and compliance with public works rules; and one-on-one meetings with local agencies to discuss future projects.
