Mammoth Unified School District recently issued the following announcement.
MUSD is beginning Stage 2 of our Reopening Plan (attached). In Stage 2, small groups of students identified as needing intervention and report are returning to schools for in-person or online learning. CDPH guidelines guide this process and Mono County Public Health provides additional guidance. The district has protocols and procedures in place for bringing back students in small groups. Small groups are limited to five students at a time and cohorts of 10 students to 1 staff member. Staff members and students can not change cohorts. For this reason, small groups are managed at a site level to ensure that all guidelines are followed.
As Stage 2 is fully implemented, the district will evaluate our progress, the impact of the virus, and seek approval to move toward the next stage. Stage 3 of our Reopening Plan is moving gradually to a hybrid learning program. Our hybrid program will mean that students can return to school for a few hours two days a week. There are health restrictions for a hybrid program, including that students will not be able to participate in many regular activities like recess or lunch. Classes are required to remain in cohorts and will still be in distance learning programs even in hybrid learning. The district has protocols, procedures and schedules ready for a hybrid program whenever we are allowed to do so.
Our board criteria and Staged Reopening Plan (attached) show how the district will engage in a slow and deliberate opening process which will ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
