The Inyo County Board of Supervisors, alongside employees and community members, recently recognized Chairperson Matt Kingsley and District Attorney Tom Hardy as they prepare for retirement at the end of December. Earlier this month, Treasurer-Tax Collector Alisha McMurtrie received similar recognition.

Tom Hardy was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation acknowledging his 19 years of service to the county, including 12 years as District Attorney. The certificate highlighted his dedication and integrity. Hardy's career included roles as Assistant District Attorney from 1997-2002 and Deputy District Attorney IV from 2004-2006. He was appointed District Attorney in September 2013 by the Board of Supervisors and subsequently won election in 2014, securing re-election twice thereafter. Present at the celebration were his father and entire staff.

Matt Kingsley has served on the Board for 12 years after being elected in 2012 and winning two subsequent elections. He received a Pinnacle Achievement Award on Tuesday, an accolade created earlier this year to honor select Inyo County employees who exemplify public service. Kingsley chose to retire instead of running for a fourth term as Fifth District Supervisor. His successor, Will Wadelton, will assume office on January 6.

The selection process for Hardy’s replacement is set for mid-January through public interviews by the Board of Supervisors. The appointee will complete Hardy's term until the next election in 2028.

Treasurer-Tax Collector Alisha McMurtrie is also retiring this month after more than 25 years serving Inyo County residents and visitors, with 18 years as Treasurer-Tax Collector. She was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation on December 3rd.

District 1 Supervisor Trina Orrill expressed her gratitude towards McMurtrie: “I’ve always been so appreciative of your integrity and your openness and your love of our County." CAO Nate Greenberg credited her leadership for maintaining the county's stable financial position.

McMurtrie's successor will be appointed in mid-January to serve out her term until the next election in 2026.
